Looks cool man, so the .308 mags work once a trigger guard is riveted in? I pulled mine apart when it came in and thought they’d fit, but have no mags to test so wasn’t sure. I was looking at doing the mag conversion, swapping the stock, and putting a micro handguard on mine. Basically looking to make a big micro galil.

Es- not with out modifications...
Front of magwell step needs to be opened up for width of og mags..then weld the four courners of mag well to fit the mag in tight from side to side. A shim must be added under mags stand. .o35 thou. Holes drilled for mag stand then the pocket welded in front of hammer stop welded flat. Trigger gaurd must also be modded as well as mag catch itself needs to be welded then filed to fit. Ive done mine in a way that it will accept the og preban mags and the ace 308 rock n lock mags.

Ak4774-heres what your up against.. the journals are the same .632
The gas port holes will line up with arm and sar gas blocks(*no bay lug only, youll need to turn journal shoulder back to use bayo lug model.)
But the roll pin holes will need to be re drilled. To use an arm gas block i had to cut an sar gas tube down some( center of first port hole on g.tube..then weld up the half hole return and re drill port hole.) to accomidate for the longer piston chamber on arm g.b.

Is there a heat shield in the micro Galil handguard? To install on a pistol, is it just a matter of driving out a front pin, removing the quad rail, sliding on the micro Galil handguard and reinstalling the pin?

i believe both are held on by machine screws to be honest. i know the ace is that way at least and i think the micro is the same.

The Micro Galil uses a machine screw to retain the handguard as well. I should get around to tossing up some pics of my Micro sometime.

After removing the hand xguard from the ace. The Micro Hand guard is plug and play basically. Although depending on the hand guard you may find the find really tight due to the molding having shrinkage. The heat shield should remain in place. The micro uses a single bolt that inserts from 1 side and screws and tightens on the other.

Nothing crazy like a few people but I swapped to a sba3 and the rs regulate handguard. The handguard is one of the upgrades that it just needs and it feels 100x better overall.I plan on swapping to a different folder setup to eliminate one set of connections but the sba3 was a worthwhile upgrade.

If your 308 was a recent acquisition "leftover"/blem and it has the single crossbolt (like mine does) you would go with the GAR-14M-R 7.62x39mm Galil Ace Rifle MLOK model which is in stock at RS.

https://rsregulate.com/product/gar-14m-r/

Got to go to Philly tomorrow and when I get home tom night I expect to find the 10" version waiting courtesy of USPS and Scot.

Does a micro galil handguard fit on the .308 pistol?

If so, where can i buy one? Gonna need a nice original galil stock also.

Is the micro R4 stock different from the rifle version? I just placed an order for this, but yours looks different.

Also forgot to mention the South african R4 stock has a extra nice length of pull compared to the Galil stock. I like it better but this is a older pic I had. You get the idea though.

That is a 3rd Generation Polymer Galil stock. Not necessarily a Micro but it was used on micros for weight reduction. The micro has a different stockside knuckle with a reduced OD" of the stock arms. These are commonly seen on MAR Galils with the extension as seen below.

https://www.botach.com/genuine-imi-g...ck-with-block/

Note:-You can not used the Mar type without remedying the OD" on the knuckle

I made the mistake of buying one of those stocks from botach. Didn't realize it was for the micro.
