True.....

BTW:
The design isn't that old, newer than the CZ vz 75 which is still extremely popular. Funny they didn't come out with an ambi 9 mm nato version until 1985.
The holster makes a great bed holster, just tuck the flap between the mattresses.

For aftermarket stuff there isn't much, but you can buy parts directly from CZ. CZ 83 grips will fit an 82 and the 85, 75, 82 and 83 all take the same sights. So you can buy CZ 75 night sights for the 82. Only problem is CZ charges a lot for parts.

Thank's, i was looking to find another mag, but the cheapest one is $29.95 & shipp. also seems the mags have 2 different types of floor plates, 1 is early and milled aluminum, base on it is about 1/4 in. and seems to also serve as a finger rest and the other is flat stamped sheet metal!
Can only seem to find the one with the stamped floor-plate for sale!

I am also looking for the aluminum lower plates for the mags.

Stop thinkin and go get it. I, and most owners, love theirs. I have both types of mags and there is no difference in function and I don't feel any difference in grip. If you have very large hands it might make a difference.

I paid 159.00 each for all 5 of mine with new black holster, two mags, and lanyard.

I've been looking for something easily concealable to carry, but accurate and reliable. The Czechs have a reputation for making good quality stuff, so I'm not surprisedd to hear the praises of the CZ.

Classic Arms has a bunch CZ-82s for sale at $199.95 with two 12 round mags, one mag holder, and belt

http://www.classicarms.us/holster.

What is the concensus regarding the CZ-82 compared to the the export Russian Makarov made by Baikal? I know the Russian gun only takes 8 rounds.

CZ 82

The CZ 82 is a much better weapon for conceal carry than the Russian civilian version. They do not have the large adjustable rear sight that the Russian Makarov has, so better clearance, without catching on anything. 12 rounds versus 8 of the mak 9 x 18 round (better than a 380, and just 1mm less than a regular 9mm). The barrel on a CZ 82 will look funny since it has no real lands and grooves, but that is the design and they are accurate as the devil. Do not let the paint job on the CZ 82 get in the way. It is very easy to clean away and any one with a couple of hours on a weekend can do a fantastic blueing on them. Also, the ammo is still agreat bargain at about $110.- for 500 rounds. I've got two (2) and I call them the Twins.

We have a big gun show coming up at the fairgrounds in St. Paul on the 31st of this month. I'm going to see if I can pick up a CZ-82 there. If not, I might order one from Classic Arms. I don't particularly like to buy guns via mail order since I prefer to handle them before buying.

Also, what brand of ammo do you use in you CZ-82? I see alot of 9x18mm stuff on Sportman's guide. I like Wolf for my Yugo M-70, but considering its steel casings I don't know if it is the right thing for a small semi-auto pistol. I like Federal HST for my Glock-22 .40 cal semi-auto. I don't know what these Czech pistols prefer to feed on!

I've had mine almost 2 months. Put a few hundred rounds through it. Not one issue. I shot both Wolf and Silver Bear. Either is GTG.

What did you use to remove the paint? I'd like to refinish and blue mine.

Pait Removal

Sorry for the delay. I used a Dremmel with a soft Green Brillo type pad. It removed the paint and did almost nothing to the metal. Then I cleaned it very well with acetone and used a propane torch to heat it up a little before I started the blueing process. After blueing I heated the metal more to cure it a bit. All total it was a 3 hour process that came out great.

CZ-82 Paint Removal

cdwoods,

Would you post a pic of your CZ-82? Interested in seeing a CZ-82 with the blueing instead of the paint finish.

Thanks, AK-NOW

The CZ-82 is the best pistol you will ever buy for less than $200! It may be the best pistol you ever buy for less than $400. Mine has a very, very good trigger both sincle and double action, eats any and all ammo I have found, and is incredably accurate.

If I could keep only one pistol, this would probably be the one. I can shoot it all day at the range without discomfort and while it is all steel, it still carries well. The fact that the ammo is cheap and plentiful is just icing on the cake.
