Red Guns in the Desert
Guns Magazine May 1958 in PDF.
Mentions the SKS in Egypt. Misprint calls it SKS-46 instead of SKS-45. mentions the Czech Vz.52 SHE rifle as being exported to Syria in 7.62x39 in 1954. Refers to 7.62x39 as "7.62x38". I'm not sure any Czech rifles were 7.62x39 instead of 7.62x45 in 1954 but maybe there were "export" versions.

The photo in the magazine of the Czech rifle looks to have a 7.62x45 magazine in it. Which would be expected in 1954.

See above link for photo comparing 7.62x45 and 7.62x39 magazines.

You are correct the Czechs did not make a Vz-52 in 7.62x39 until 1957 because that was the transition year when:
a) The Czechs were strong-armed by the Soviets to adopt the 7.62x39 cartridge like the rest of the Warsaw Pact. (Hence why they renamed it Vz-52/57).
b) Needed a temporary rifle so the Czechs could finish testing their Vz-58 that would come out a year later while at the same time not piss of the Soviets.
Only a few thousand of them were ever produced. Some of them made it over here to the U.S. but are now worth $1500+ because of their rarity. The fact that it fires a popular, cheap cartridge also adds to the value (compared to the regular Vz-52 which can be had for around $400 but chambered for a round no longer made or popular to begin with).
