FA parts in a Semi-Auto

First things first, just because this absolutely has to be said:

[SIZE=4]I AM NOT BUILDING AN ILLEGAL MACHINE GUN. I LOVE MY FIREARMS TOO MUCH TO HAVE THEM TAKEN AWAY.

That being said, let me just repeat myself:

I am not building an illegal machine gun. I don't want a felony charge brought down on my head, ever.

Now, down to business, with a very simple question. I just recently read that a set of FA parts won't fit/function in a semi automatic rifle if installed. Is this true, and if so, why?

Thanks,
-Nick

This is true because a semi auto AK does not have all the machine work done that would enable installation of all the full auto parts. The infamous 3rd hole and side rail slot are missing on the semi auto which prevent installation of the auto sear. Same thing with an AR, additional machine work required for parts to fit and function properly in select fire mode. Heed your own words, do not try to modify any firearm to operate in full auto or select fire mode. It's not worth the jail time and loss of gun priviledges. Plus, it's just stupid. A semi auto will do anything you need it to do, and if you're worried about a SHTF situation, your semi auto will suffice until you capture another battle rifle from the enemy and can use their captured ammo. So practice your marksmanship with several types of rifles and forget about full auto fire.

Partially true, you can't use the auto sear but you can use hammer trigger and disconnector but only if you have the appropiate number of 922r parts, plenty of guys use the original FCG in their pistol builds since it's 922r exempt

The disconnector may need to be modified from a full auto parts set to work in a semi auto, depending on the selector lever. you may need to trim the tail off the disconnector for proper function.

Yea that slipped my mind if you don't do this it could result in either a slam fire from the hammer follow or an out of battery discharge and that Is something you don't want happening
